Qualifying courses for the CMS are offered through UBC’s Mining Studies Summer Institute and two additional institutions: Simon Fraser University and EduMine.

The Certificate in Mining Studies is now broadening its content by offering new courses and new locations to better suite the diverse needs of individuals in the program.
All short courses for the Mining Studies Institute for 2009 are organized and administrated by EduMine.

The criteria for earning a Certificate in Mining Studies is completing the following.
9 days of classroom study (lecture format),
one project/report for each short course,
160 hours of online study in the same stream(s) as the classes with approximately 20 hours of online study required for each day of classroom study.
A passing grade for all of the work and an overall grade (combination of grades on the project and on-line work) of C or higher is required.
