The Department of Mining Engineering is pleased to announce that 4th year BASc student, Jesse Peters, is this year’s recipient of two prestigious scholarships, the Alex Senules Scholarship, and the CIM MES-COSMO Scholarship.
The International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) awards the Senules Scholarship, which is one of 27 named funds of the SEE Education Foundation. The funds are established by individuals to honour or commemorate industry professionals or others who have made significant contributions to the explosives industry.
Alex Senules was founder and president of Senex Explosives, Inc. of Cuddy, PA. His early training and experience handling explosives with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers led Mr. Senules to a more than 40-year career in the explosives industry. He holds several patents for the manufacturer of emulsion explosives, and operates explosive manufacturing facilities based outside of Pittsburgh, PA and Miami, FL.
The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s Management and Economics Society and the COSMO Mining Industry Consortium jointly award the Management and Economics Society of MES-COSMO Scholarship. This scholarship provides financial support for mining engineering undergraduate students who are enrolled in Canadian universities, who focus on strategic mine planning optimization under uncertainty and related risk management.
Congratulations, Jesse!
