Leaders in mining education, research, and industry partnerships.
The Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) is currently seeking new volunteer members for a two-year renewable term beginning in 2025.

Since then, it has grown into one of the world’s largest and most advanced centres for undergraduate and graduate mining education and research. It offers broad professional programs integrating courses and work experience focused on engineering principles, earth and mineral sciences, mining and mineral processing, health, safety and environmental issues, social sciences and management, as well as economics and business.
The UBC Mining IAC provides perspective, guidance, and direction to the department in the areas of academics, strategy, and fundraising. It is broad-based and made up of alumni and industry stakeholders with a diversity of characteristics, backgrounds, and perspectives with a focus on British Columbia.
The IAC is currently seeking new members with experience or interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience in equipment/technology design/supply, finance, education/research, or government
- Early career professionals (less than 10 years’ experience)
- Late career professionals (more than 30 years’ experience)
- Graduate engineering education (Masters or Doctorate)
The IAC meets every four months aligned with the school year (September, January, and May). Meetings are 2-3 hours in length usually followed by a social function to network with students and faculty. Members may also be asked to volunteer for sub-committees and special projects that align with their experience and/or interests.
UBC’s Faculty of Applied Science is committed to creating a community where human rights are respected and equity is embedded in all areas of academic, work and campus life. The principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and indigeneity are fundamental in achieving our mission to shape the leaders and professions that shape the world.
