UBC Mining Students Compete at Intercollegiate Mining Games
Congratulations to the UBC team who competed at the 48th Intercollegiate Mining Games, representing the University of British Columbia with outstanding results.
The UBC Mining Games team achieved several strong finishes, including 2nd place in Swede Saw and Mucking, and 3rd place in Survey and Trackstand, earning 3rd place overall. This marks the second consecutive year that UBC has finished in the Top 3 overall, a testament to the team’s commitment, preparation, and teamwork.
We would like to extend special congratulations to Dylan McIntosh, Ethan Stroud, Evan Plaza and Ian Platzer, who competed in their final Intercollegiate Mining Games as students this year. Their leadership and dedication have made a lasting contribution to the team and the broader UBC Mining Engineering community. We wish them every success as they move on to the next stage of their careers.
The students also gratefully acknowledges the continued support of their sponsors — Britannia Mine Museum, Wheaton Precious Metals, Cementation Americas, Polycorp for their support. Their support plays a vital role in enabling opportunities for students to train, compete, and represent UBC on an intercollegiate stage.
We look forward to supporting the team as they prepare for the next Intercollegiate Mining Games in Colorado.
