Marias work in recovering critical and precious metals from electronic waste has helped position urban mining as a vital part of the circular economy and Canada's critical minerals strategy.
Nadja Kunz
Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Mine Water Management and Stewardship
Nadja leads interdisciplinary research that helps companies and regulators make informed decisions about water use and risk. Her work has global reach, influencing water stewardship in regions like South America, Mongolia, and Canada’s mining north.
Sanja Miskovic
Associate Professor
Sanja leads the Advanced Mineral Processing Research Group. Her research focuses on developing cleaner, more energy-efficient technologies for mineral processing — tackling complex challenges in resource optimization and environmental impact.
Tonia Welch
Assistant Professor of Teaching & Undergraduate Advisor
Tonia brings her experience in geotechnical engineering and Indigenous engagement to the classroom. She is committed to building inclusive, student-centred learning environments and preparing future engineers to lead with technical and ethical integrity.
