  • 50 years of experience in the mining industry with the last 20 years focused on caving from design through implementation to operation.
  • On-going involvement as an independent technical advisor to PTFI’s Grasberg operations. Currently involved in ramp-up of the DMLZ (80,000tpd) and GBC (130,000tpd). Tasks include the development and implementation of cave management and ground control plans and assistance with cave performance technology. On-going input to the DOZ cave (max .79,000tpd) and the Big Gossan SLOS (7,000tpd).
  • Chair Newcrest’s Cave Mining Advisory Panel reporting through to Exco.
  • Senior Consultant to Hatch with involvement on caving projects for Vale, BHP and Antamina
  • Technical advice to several small companies, including Bluestone, Avanco, TMM, KSM on aspects of underground mining.
  • Technical review of caving operations for Franco Neveda.
  • Technical advisor to Merdeka Copper and Gold on their Tujuh Bukit project in Indonesia.
  • Strategic reviews of cave CAPEX and OPEX of proposed cave for tier 1 mining company
  • Strategic review of underground technology for Vale, Sudbury operations.
  • Have participated in strategic and technical risk reviews of both brownfield and greenfield projects, including Barrick’s proposed caving project in Argentine/Chile, Eldorado Gold’s underground project in Greece, Debswana’s proposed transition to underground and Neves Corvo in Portugal.
  • Have served on a technical review boards (Oyu Tolgoi, Resolution, Bingham).
  • Managed technology development projects including rapid development pilot; sulphide leach trial; cave design tools.
