Course Registration Information

Registration for the 2024 winter session will take place over June and July 2024. You will receive an email from Enrolment Services (ES), 1-2 weeks before your registration period opens, which includes information about your registration appointment. The day and time of your registration appointment is based on your cumulative UBC average, not your sessional average which was used in SSC.  Please remember registration appointments are published in Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), so be sure to double check your registration time, especially if you are out of the province or country.

You will be registering for your winter 2024 session courses in Workday Student. The course schedule has been released and can be viewed in the system. In previous years, you may have registered into your courses via a Standard Timetable (STT), which allowed you to register in the majority of your courses at once. We have still created STTs, however they are only a visual representation of what your course schedule may look like, and you will not be able to register directly into your courses. The other change in registration is how you will be registering for your courses. You will need to register for each of your courses individually.

Using the STT visual and the course roadmap you will be able to create saved schedules, which are equivalent to course worklist in SSC. Planning your schedule ahead of time will allow you to register into the courses on your saved schedule when your registration appointment opens. You will have to create separate saved schedules for Winter term 1 and Winter term 2.

When logging on to Workday Student, we recommend you use a computer to register for your courses. Although there is a Workday mobile app, it doesn’t support the functionality you need to register in courses.

The Academic Progression Report (APR) tool in Workday Student is replacing Degree Navigator. The APR contains up to date degree requirements for your program, and we are currently updating all APRs to ensure your courses are applying correctly. Please do not rely on the APR until further notice from EAS or your program.

It takes time to learn a new system, and we would suggest that you take some time to familiarize yourself. There are course registration “how to” documents on our Workday Student System  which guide you on how to create a saved schedule (previously worklists), finding courses, and registering for courses.

There is additional Workday Student information to highlight changes with information and terminology the system uses, specifically about class standing and year level, specific to Engineering students.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Undergraduate Advisor, Tonia Welch.
