We are pleased to invite applications for the George Poling Professor of Critical Mineral Processing, a tenure-track Assistant Professor position within the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

This prestigious professorship marks a new chapter for the department, following the recent establishment of the George Poling Professorship in Critical Minerals Processing and Innovation. The professorship honours Dr. George Poling’s outstanding legacy and his decades of leadership in mineral processing education, research, and mentorship at UBC. It is made possible through his generous support and vision for the future of the field.

We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking academic to lead research, teaching, and engagement in this strategically vital area. The successful candidate will help advance UBC’s leadership in the processing of critical minerals—those essential to clean energy technologies and the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

Applicants with expertise in areas such as advanced separation technologies, sustainable extraction, process innovation, decarbonization, or the circular economy are particularly encouraged to apply.
